Pre-heat oven to 180°C. Grease a loaf tin and line with baking paper.
Using electric beaters, cream together margarine, sugar, and essence until pale and fluffy.
Beat in banana and milk/lemon juice mix.
Quickly stir in remaining ingredients. Pour mixture into the tin, bake 60 mins. or until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
Cool cake in tin, 5 mins., turn onto a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
