Heart Sandwich Biscuits

Step 1

Pre-heat oven to 160°C/fan 140°C/ gas mark 5.

Step 2

Cream the butter and sugar together.

Step 3

Fold the Fate Low Protein All-Purpose Mix into the butter and sugar mixture until it is mixed well.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, combine the water, egg replacer, food colouring and vanilla essence.

Step 5

Add the wet ingredients to the Fate Low Protein All-Purpose Mix and butter mixture and combine until a stiff dough is formed.

Step 6

Cover a baking tray with greaseproof paper.

Step 7

Between two sheets of greaseproof paper roll out the dough to 3cm thickness.

Step 8

Cut 12 hearts out of the dough using the heart cutter and place on the baking tray.

Step 9

Bake for 20 minutes.

Step 10

Using a spatula, remove cookies from the baking tray and leave to cool on a wire rack.

Step 11

Once cooled, spread 1 tbsp of icing on 6 of the hearts and sandwich the icing with the other 6 hearts.

  • 40g Soft butter
  • 70g Caster sugar
  • 140g Fate Low Protein All-Purpose Mix
  • 1 tsp Egg replacer
  • 50ml Water
  • 1 tsp Dr Oetker gel red food colouring
  • ½ tsp Vanilla essence
  • 6 tbsp Betty Crocker vanilla buttercream style icing
  • You will need a 4 cm heart cutter.
