Apple and Berry Heart Pie

  • RECIPE MAKES: 1 Large Pie, 6-8 Portions
  • COOK TIME: 60 mins | Cooking Time: 30 mins
You will need a 23cm (9inch) pie dish and a 4cm heart cutter.
  1. Rub the Fate Low Protein All-Purpose Mix and the margarine together in a mixing bowl until it resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
  2. In a separate bowl add the sugar to the water and stir until combined.
  3. Add the sugar and water mix to the Fate Low Protein All-Purpose Mix and margarine mixture and stir until combined.
  4. Leave to rest for 10 minutes.
  5. Preheat an oven to 200°C/180°C fan/gas mark 6.
  6. Dust a clean work surface with Fate Low Protein All-Purpose Mix and knead the pastry for a minute on the work surface until smooth.
  7. Using a rolling pin, roll out 2/3 of the pastry to cover the bottom, allowing for a slight overhang.
  8. Place the apples, blackberries, raspberries and brown sugar in the pastry and spread evenly.
  9. Roll the second ball of pastry out and using a heart cutter, cut out 28 small hearts out.
  10. Arrange the hearts in circles on top of the filling so that the point of the hearts are pointing to the centre of the pie.
  11. Brush with ProZero and bake in the pre-heated oven for 30 mins or until golden.
  12. Cool on a wire rack.
